CLASS ROOM

  • Each of the Adarsha Vidyalaya will have 18 Classrooms, out of which one or more than one will be a Model Smart Classroom, with ICT infrastructure and internet connectivity. Steps will be taken to transform all the Classrooms into Smart Classrooms at a later stage.

Labs

  • Well-equipped laboratories are in place in all the Vidyalayas across the state, to enable students to explore, probe and experiment their ideas. Experimentation helps students to get new ideas, develop scientific reasoning abilities, enrich knowledge and practical skills. These laboratories are used for the students to prepare their Science Projects which are showcased during different intra and inter level school exhibitions.

Physics

  • To cater to the curiosity and interest of the students, the Physics lab is equipped with experimental gadgets, kits, chart apparatus, models, lens, magnets, spring balance, beam balance etc. Students get an exposure to the practical aspect of physics through experimentation.

Chemistry

  • The labs are constructed keeping in view the statutory norms for safety as mandated by CBSE, including facilities for the safe storage of chemicals, first-aid kit, proper ventilation and adequate space for experimentation. It has suitable number of Bunsen Burners, Beakers, Flask etc, to provide opportunity for experimentation of each student.

Biology

  • It is well equipped with microscopes, apparatus, various specimen, models, bio-visual charts, for students to make observation and experiment under guidance. The lab is also designed to help students boost their knowledge and concept of various plants and animals.

Computer (ICT-Information and Communication Technology)

  • Technology is one of the major components to improve our lives. Students need to imbibe the basic computer skills right from their school level, to prepare them in entering a college with confidence. The Vidyalaya is equipped with latest Computer, Printer, Scanner and internet facility. In each Vidyalaya a full-time Computer Teacher has been recruited to introduce students to Computer and strengthen their essential Computer skills.

Music & Dance

  • In an effort to revive the rich cultural tradition, music lessons are imparted in each OAV. We have setup Music & Dance labs for students to learn and refine the musical and dancing skills. There are trained dance and music teachers for both Indian and western forms in the schools.

LIBRARY

  • The Library at Adarsh Vidyalayas houses divergent types of books to support every member of the School Community to access additional reading material, gain new knowledge and inculcate reading habits. The carefully selected books help to equip children with knowledge and skills as well as enhance their imagination and creativity. The Library has a wide array of books like dictionaries, biographies and auto biographies of eminent personalities, encyclopaedias, meaningful story book, reference books on all the subjects, bulletins, journals, newspapers and many more.

SPORTS

  • To give the sporting talents of the students a boost, sports is given equal attention as any other subjects at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya. It teaches them discipline, tolerance, patience, how to handle pressure and the value of team spirit. Students are greatly encouraged to take part in various sports activities. Regular inter-house competitions are conducted to inspire them further.

MUSIC

  • Music leads to better brain development in children, enhances creativity, increases reading-comprehension abilities and improves listening skills. Each Adarsha Vidyalaya has a separate room for Music where students are taught musical instruments like harmonium, tabla, key board etc, vocal and dance.

NCC/SCOUTS

  • The Adarsha Vidyalayas will have facilities for Scouts and Guides. The various activities planned will help students to become confident and courageous individuals. It will also foster personality development and help students imbibe a sense of social responsibility.

HOUSE

OAVs have a uniform House System across all the schools to develop a sense of camaraderie and identity. The four Houses are named according to the four major rivers of the state:

  • Mahanadi House - Red (Motto - Pride by my side)
  • Brahmani House - Blue (Motto - Passion and purpose)
  • Subarnarekha House - Green (Motto - Lead with dignity)
  • Bansadhara House - Yellow (Motto - Grow with honour)

Each House is guided by a House Master/ Mistress and Associates (Teachers). Each of the House also have Student House Captains, Vice-Captains, Cultural Secretary, Sports Secretary, and Volunteers.

The House Duties include:

  • Conduct Assembly Daily at the beginning of the School
  • Prepare news and thoughts for the day
  • Maintain discipline in the Vidyalaya
  • Ensure cleanliness in the Vidyalaya
  • Check late-comers and the uniforms of students
  • Participate in inter-house and intra-school competitions
  • Arrange school functions under the guidance of the teachers
  • Coordinate Sramdan Programme

Various competitions are conducted at regular intervals which not only build the competencies of the students but also develop team spirit, give them an identity and a sense of pride.

HOSTEL

  • To improve enrolment of girl students and encourage them to pursue their education, there are 145 Kasturaba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV Type 4) Girls Hostels are currently operational across the state. Apart from providing quality education within reach, hostels will be opened to give access to Girl students who find it difficult to travel long distance. Hostel will also aim to encourage more girls to access Secondary and Senior Secondary education.
